EXPRESS YOURSELF | Prizes & Judging

An individual winner or group will receive a gift card from a store of their choice in Peel Region for the following amounts:

The 1st place winner of each age category will receive $300.
The 2nd place winner of each age category will receive $150.
The 3rd place winner of each category will receive $75.

A panel of judges will score your submission based on:

  • How you address the issue of youth violence
  • Clarity of the message
  • Creativity and originality
  • Overall impression

EXPRESS YOURSELF | Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

WHAT FORMAT DOES MY SUBMISSION HAVE TO BE IN?

Drawings/Sketches/Paintings: An original piece is required.
Photography: All major formats, jpeg (or bmp); 10 MB or less in file size
Written poetry/song lyrics: Original piece should not exceed 400 words.
Audio submission: 1 minute or less mp3 or wav.file
Video: 1 minute maximum, please submit the URL or link to your video (ie. YouTube, Vimeo, etc…) or put the video on a USB flash storage device.

For songs, audio and video all the elements have to be original, including the background music and sound effects.

Helpful Hints:
Video Production Tips – If you don’t have access to editing your video, YouTube has an editing feature where you can upload your video to YouTube and edit it.

Submissions can be uploaded or dropped off at:

All winners will be contacted via e-mail or phone before May 11th, 2012

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CONTEST IS OVER?

All the contest participants will be invited to a ‘Showcase Event’ on May 11th, 2012 at the Rose Theatre, Brampton where select contest entries will be displayed and winners will be awarded their prizes.

Contest submissions will also be featured on the voice4peelyouth.ca website and may be showcased at different community venues within Peel region.
